Head Coach Chamusca's Words After the Al-Taawoun vs Al-Ittihad Match

2026/01/03

Al-Taawoun head coach Chamusca held a press conference after the defeat to Al-Ittihad, in which he stressed his pride in the team's performance despite the absence of several key players such as Waleed Al-Ahmad, Fulgini and Barrow

 Chamusca said

“We played a great match and I knew we would face a team of very high quality, yet our players delivered a good level. The opponent has players on a big budget and I am proud of my team”

Regarding the tactical changes during the match, Chamusca explained that the substitution of Mohammed Al-Kuwaykibi with Bassam Al-Harigi was made to maintain the team's structure, noting that Al-Kuwaykibi felt pain in the adductor muscle during training, and although he was fit to play, he decided to replace him to avoid any possible injury as the match progressed

Chamusca touched on the upcoming transfer window, confirming that its aim is to strengthen the squad and make up for the absent players

He added:

“This week we discussed some squad-related matters with the management, and there will be a more extensive discussion next week”

As for the refereeing decisions during the match, Chamusca said that the Al-Taawoun goal disallowed by the VAR referee was a very harsh decision and considered that some situations were exaggerated

Asked why Mustafa Sambini was played and not Bassam or Fulgini, Chamusca explained:

“Mustafa trains with us every day and he is an important player within the group, and playing him was to maintain the team's structure and organise the defence. As for Fulgini, he is currently in a transitional phase and has taken part in only three training sessions, and he will be ready to participate better in the upcoming matches”

In conclusion, Chamusca expressed his confidence that the team will continue to deliver outstanding performances in the coming matches and that work continues to make up for the absences and achieve the desired results.
